Round 8 - Falcons swoop on West inflicting 5 deadly wounds…

By RGB_07

Enfield consolidate third place in the Premier League after swooping on a hapless West Adelaide 5-1 at Rushworth Reserve. West saw their chance to move up the ladder and close the gap on the leaders dashed with a poor display.

West started off brightly from the first whistle, dominating early and this was rewarded with Spiro Kezios scoring. The start which promised so much yet again failed to deliver as silly errors crept in and cost West this advantage with Margaritis scoring a fortunate rebound and Costa tapping home from close range. West had a glimmer of hope heading into the break down 2-1 as Margaritis was sent off for dissent just before half time.

But West was unable to capitalise and was punished for another poor error when Graham scored into an empty net. The third goal killed any momentum West had and Enfield added further misery by scoring another two goals from Stavrides and Pavanello. It was a dark day for West, for which they need to recover quickly.

It what looks like a lack of support from supporters and the like with scathing comments, the players and coaching staff need to regroup and bond together and work hard as one to prove all the doubters wrong.

Reserves:

Another week and unfortunately another loss for the Reserves, this time 2-1 to Enfield. Once again the West team was depleted by injuries and sickness but still went out in the first half in a positive frame of mind and this attitude paid dividends with Sasha Pavic notching up his first goal of this season.

It was just reward for the way the team began the match but as it has been the case this season Tory Caputo’s side was unable to build on its lead. They subsequently were pegged back by a gritty Enfield side that drew level and then in the second half scored the winner.

With 4 points separating 3rd from last place there is still plenty to play for this season as all it takes is a win or two on the trot to change the confidence in the team. Can Caputo weave his magic wand?

Under 19's:

The undefeated season is no more!!! A more committed and hard working Enfield side showed up a West side that lacked any imagination and drive. Defensively West have been good over the past few weeks but this game they were a defensive mess.

Simple errors, poor positioning made way for West side copping 4 goals for the first time this season. Goals from Scott Leonard from the penalty spot after George Pilouras was brought down and a regulation finish from Matty Bouzalas saved face for West in the first half.

But after the break Enfield dominated and showed more determination to score twice and secure a deserved 4-2 victory. Next match is vital for West’s title aspirations taking on league leader and undefeated Modbury.
