West Adelaide’s goalkeepers are in safe hands…

Gerry Roussianos, currently at West Adelaide talks with verve about those heady days, saying nothing will ever beat playing. But he's almost as talkative about his new role as a Goalkeeper Coach.

Gezza as he is affectionately known, waves his hands as he talks. Now he is barking instructions to the sparkling new talent of keepers at West.

“I have a specific plan for these keepers. We plan meticulously, from the warm-up right up to post-match analysis. We try to leave nothing to chance. It is all about securing the future of the club by coaching the correct technique. My work here is for the future, for tomorrow.” says Gerry, who himself hang up the gloves last season after an illustrious career.

Many critics believe that Gerry has layed down the correct foundations at West for the young inspiring keepers to follow. He has a close relationship with Kon Tsacos, Jimmy Agnastopoulos, Josh Kolesnikowicz and Anthony Barbon and says: “I run the session tough, to make sure what they work on the training ground transpires to the pitch on game day.”

Let’s hope that all this hard work eventuates in clean sheets and West moves up the ladder in quick time.
